I came to Raku with a party of 9 because we were not expecting the restaurant to be this small (oops). This place is definitely a hole in the wall for Japanese udon. The outside had no signs except a small menu that indicates the fabric curtains lead into Raku. The restaurant is small and has very limited seating. I would not recommend coming with a party of 9. We joined the Yelp waitlist by splitting the groups 4 and 5 which worked. However, the Yelp waitlist time was very inaccurate. My friends and I arrived at the restaurant at the given time but 4 of us were standing outside for almost an extra half an hour. The waitress then told us that the Yelp waitlist is usually inaccurate, but since the restaurant was so small, we were just standing outside in the cold.
I ordered the Kitsune udon which consists of the udon noodles, fried bean curd, and some spinach. The broth was amazing, it was very flavorful but a bit too salty. I would recommend try asking for low sodium broth because I was drinking lots of water due to the saltiness. The udon noodles were very chewy and I liked the consistency a lot. I did find the portions to be a bit small, and I was still hungry afterward. I would recommend trying their other udons if you are hungry.
Overall, I do love the food here a lot. The wait was definitely a bit longer than I expected, so I would recommend using Yelp to join the waitlist ahead of time. If I am ever in the area, I would definitely come back.
